Supreme Court employees donate to Toys for Tots

CHARLESTON, W.Va.The Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia and its employees at the Capitol are participating in the U.S. Marine Corps' Toys for Tots program. The donation marks the third consecutive year the Court and its employees have participated in the program.

Toys donated by the Supreme Court justices and the Court's employees will be picked up by Marines on Wednesday, December 17.

The Toys for Tots program began in 1947, when it distributed five thousand toys to children in the Los Angeles area. Since then it has distributed more than 350 million toys to 166 million children across the country. The Marines and those who help them want to motivate children to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders.

That goal meshes with the Court's mission to improve the administration of justice and increase services to citizens. The Toys for Tots program is a way to address the physical needs and wants of West Virginia's youngest citizens.
