JUSTICE WARREN McGRAW OF THE WEST VIRGINIA SUPREME COURT
OF APPEALS REQUESTS MEDAL OF HONOR FOR PFC JESSICA LYNCH
Charleston, W.Va. - In view of the reports of the extraordinary valor demonstrated by West Virginia native PFC Jessica Lynch in resisting capture and in attempting to defend her colleagues in Iraq, and also in view of the fact that her conduct exemplifies courage and commitment so typical of West Virginians and Americans overall, Justice Warren McGraw of the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals is today contacting all members of West Virginia's Congressional Delegation, as well as President Bush, and is requesting that they take the necessary steps to honor this heroic West Virginian by awarding PFC Jessica Lynch of Palestine, West Virginia, the Congressional Medal of Honor. In his letters to the Congressional Delegation and the President, Justice McGraw states that "while many others have served with great honor and distinction in our struggle in Iraq, I believe that the bravery shown by PFC Lynch and the impact her conduct had upon the morale of our troops and the mood of our nation qualifies her for this high honor."
