JUSTICES TO ATTEND THE FEDERAL FOURTH CIRCUIT
JUDICIAL CONFERENCE

    HOT SPRINGS, VA. -- Chief Justice Larry V. Starcher and Justice Robin Jean Davis will attend the 69th Annual Fourth Circuit Judicial Conference at The Homestead in Hot Springs, Virginia, June 24-26, 1999. The program topic will be “Brave New World: The Telecommunications Act of 1996.”

    The conference brings together judges of the federal Fourth Judicial Circuit and justices of the highest state courts within that circuit. West Virginia, Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Maryland comprise the Fourth Circuit.

    United States Supreme Court Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist and Justice Sandra Day O'Connor will be conference presenters. In addition to reviewing the major United States Supreme Court decisions of the October 1998 Term, Chief Justice Rehnquist will lead the judges in the conference's “11th Old-fashioned Sing-along.”
