Matthew Minney to be Sworn-In as
Calhoun County Prosecuting Attorney

      Charleston, W. Va. - Matthew Minney, a workers’ compensation writ clerk at the West Virginia Supreme Court, will be sworn-in as Calhoun County Prosecuting Attorney on Friday, July 25, at 3:00 p.m. in the Supreme Court courtroom in Charleston. Chief Justice Larry Starcher will administer the oath of office.

      Mr. Minney was recently appointed prosecutor at a special meeting of the Calhoun County Commission. He fills the unexpired term of Tony Morgan. Mr. Minney will begin his duties as prosecutor on August 1.

      Before becoming a writ clerk at the Supreme Court, Mr. Minney served as a circuit court law clerk with the 14th Judicial Circuit, which includes Gilmer, Webster, Clay and Braxton counties.

      Mr. Minney is a 2001 graduate of the West Virginia University College of Law and a 1996 graduate of Glenville State College, where he graduated first in his class with an education degree. He served as a substitute teacher in Gilmer and Calhoun counties. He is a native of Shock in Gilmer County.
