MISSION STATEMENT
SUPREME COURT OF APPEALS OF WEST VIRGINIA
STATE LAW LIBRARY
The State Law Library’s primary mission is to assist the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia, the statewide unified court system, and all judicial staff in carrying out the administration of justice. The State Law Library provides access to law related information to the judiciary, legal community and the public. The State Law Library accomplishes these purposes through the acquisition of print and electronic resources; creation of policies and rules for the use of these resources; and the periodic review of library programs and services.
Library Use |
The Law Library is open to the public during posted hours. Only Supreme Court employees are allowed in the Law Library after closing except with the written permission of a justice, the Administrative Director, the Chief Deputy Administrative Director or the Law Librarian. Internet terminals are available in the reading room for public use. Copies made from these terminals are 10 cents per page.
Circulation Policy |
No books or other materials may be checked out of the Law Library except with the permission of the Law Librarian. Other staff members may not authorize loan of materials.
Photocopiers |
There are two photocopiers located in the Law Library. If you are with a law firm or other government organization, you may establish a billing account to make copies. State agency employees should use their agency code. The public code needed to operate the copiers will be provided by library staff. Copies cost 15 cents per page. Copies made on the library's microfiche reader/printer are 25 cents per page.
Fax Machine |
The Law Library fax machine is located in the library office in the Reading Room. The fax number is 304-558-3673. Charges to fax copies are $5.00 for the first page and $1.00 for each additional page.
