Law Day

Law Day celebrates the American legal system and provides the legal community a chance to educate the public about their rights and responsibilities under the law. The Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia and courts throughout the state participate in various activities to celebrate Law Day each year on or around May 1.

The Supreme Court will sponsor activities at the State Capitol which will include a Legal Information Fair with entertainment, food, Court tours, and an exhibit of the winning photographs of the "Images of Freedom"  student photography exhibit

In 2006 Law Day will focus on  Liberty Under Law: Separate Branches, Balanced Powers.   Please browse through the Law Day Planning Guide to create your own local activities and encourage your local schools and students to submit photographs for the statewide photography competition.

If you have questions or would like to schedule or sponsor an activity at the Capitol or participate in the Legal Information Fair, please e-mail Jennifer Singletary.
