Circuit Judge Jeffrey B. Reed of Wood and Wirt  counties was first elected circuit judge in 1993.  Before becoming a circuit judge, he was in private practice from 1984-1988. He also served as Wood County Prosecuting Attorney from 1989-1992.

He holds a law degree from the West Virginia University College of Law, and a bachelor of arts degree from West Virginia University.  He was recipient of the 2003 Commissioner's Award for outstanding achievement in the field of child abuse and neglect prevention, Chairperson of the West Virginia Court Improvement Oversight Board, and a member of the Wood County Commission on Crime, Delinquency & Corrections.  He is also an Adjunct Professor in criminal law at West Virginia University at Parkersburg and a Continuing Education Instructor for circuit judges, magistrates and circuit judge law clerks.
