Beane of Wood and Wirt Counties was appointed by Governor Joe Manchin, III on December 15, 2006. Before becoming a circuit judge, he was in private practice from 1990-2006. He also served in the West Virginia House of Delegates from 1990-2006. During his tenure in the House he served on the following Committees: Government Organization (Chair), Joint Committee on Government Operations (Co-Chair), Insurance (Chair), Banking (Vice-Chair), Judiciary Finance, Constitutional Revisions, Industry and Labor, Joint Committee on Interstate Cooperation (Co-Chair), Rules, and West Virginia Law Institute. He served on the following Regional and National Committees: Property and Casualty Insurance, Worker's Compensation, Subcommittee on National Disasters Insurance Legislation and the Executive Committee of the National Conference of Insurance Legislators, Public Safety and Justice Task Force of the Council of State Governments, Law and Criminal Justice Committee of the National Conference of State Legislators, Human Services and Public Safety Committee of the Southern Legislative Conference. Governor Bob Wise appointed Judge Beane to serve as a Member of the Governors Cabinet on Children and Families and named him to serve as a Member of the Commission of Governing in the 21st Century. Judge Beane holds a law degree from Capital University Law School, attended summer school at Ohio State University College of Law and Oxford University and received a bachelor of arts degree from West Virginia University. |
