Petitioner/Defendant appeals the enhancement of his sentence under the recidivist statute arguing that the out-of-state convictions were not properly authenticated, that the trial court lacked the jurisdiction to impose a life sentence because Petitioner/Defendant was denied effective assistance of counsel, and the court erred in denying Petitioner/Defendant’s motion for directed verdict following the State’s failure to introduce the statutory authority supporting the underlying out-of-state convictions.
