A woman with decades of experience in the courthouse is the new Circuit Clerk in McDowell County.
Francine Spencer became the Circuit Clerk in December 2009 upon the retirement of former Clerk Michael Brooks. She was appointed by Eighth Judicial Circuit Judge Booker Stephens.
”I worked in the Circuit Clerk’s Office for twenty-five years. Then I was appointed to the Magistrate Court for seventeen months, and then the Prosecutor’s Office for three years,” Mrs. Spencer told the Welch News.
A lifelong resident of McDowell County, she will hold the office until the election in November. She lives in the Northfork area with her husband, the Rev. Curtis Spencer, and their four children.
