Celebrate Constitution Day, September 17

The Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia is encouraging circuit judges, family court judges, and magistrates to participate in Constitution Day on September 17, 2010, by volunteering to speak to students at local schools.

In 2005, the late U.S. Senator Robert C. Byrd added an amendment to a federal appropriations bill requiring all schools that receive federal funds to teach students about the U.S. Constitution every September 17, the day on which it was signed in 1787. In honor of Senator Byrd, the Court would like to carry on the tradition of educating students about the Constitution.

If you are willing and available to speak to school children on that day, please contact Kandi Greter, Public Education Coordinator, at 304-340-2755 or kandi.greter@courtswv.gov.
