Personal Income Tax Filing Deadline Extended

For Flood Victims until April 26

Charleston, W. Va. -- Gov. Manchin today announced West Virginia will provide flood victims an additional seven days in which to file Income Tax returns due to recent flooding in many West Virginia communities.

This coincides with the latest extension granted by the Internal Revenue Service. Taxpayers affected by the flooding will have until midnight, April 26, 2007, to meet their tax filing obligations without incurring late-filing and payment penalties.

Taxpayers filing returns under the extension should write “Flood Extension” on the top of the first page of the return so the Tax Department will not penalize the taxpayer for late filing or paying. Information regarding this extension may be obtained by contacting the Taxpayer Services Division at 1-800-982-8297.
