Charleston, W. Va. -- Virgil T. Helton, State Tax Commissioner, today announced that West Virginia taxpayers will have until April 17, 2007 to file and pay their 2006 State Personal Income Taxes. April 15th falls on Sunday and taxpayers customarily have until Monday, April 16th to file their taxes. However, April 16th is Emancipation Day, which is a legal holiday in the District of Columbia. The Internal Revenue Service has announced an additional day to file and pay 2006 Federal Personal Income Taxes and West Virginia will follow suit with that extension making April 17, 2007 the date to file and pay taxes timely. Information concerning the extra day can be found in the IRS January 24, 2007 News Release.
Forms, instructions, electronic services and refund inquiries may be obtained by visiting the West Virginia Tax Department website or by calling the Interactive Voice Response System at (304) 344-2068 or toll-free 1-800-422-2075..
