Completed 2008 E-Cycling Events

Greenbrier County, January 7 - 11, January 14 - 18 and January 19, 2008

The Greenbrier County Solid Waste Authority collected 47,528 lbs. or 23.8 tons of e-waste for reuse or recycling in this 11 day event.

 

Putnam County, Saturday, April 5, 2008

The Putnam County Solid Waste Authority collected approximately 16 tons of appliances and 17.7 tons of electronic items for recycling in its countywide cleanup and recycling event, on. April 5, 2008. In all, over 50 tons of material was hauled from the event site.

Monongalia County, April 5, 2008

6th Annual Regional E-Cycling Event
April  5, 2008 - 9am - 2pm

The MCSWA has hosted its Annual Regional E-cycling Event at the Westover City Building Parking Lot at 500 DuPont Road in Westover.  

The program gathers electronics equipment (computers, computer components, stereos, televisions etc) for recycling.


The authority collected 6.56 tons of e-waste for reuse or recylcing.
 

 

Hancock County SWA Spring Cleanup Program, Friday and Saturday, April 18 & 19, 2008 (Including E-Waste)

NEW CUMBERLAND, W.VA. - The Hancock County Solid Waste Authority conducted its Spring Cleanup Program on Friday and Saturday, April 18 & 19, 2008.  This program is sponsored by the Hancock County Commissioners with assistance from Tomlinson Run State Park Foundation, Boy Scout Troops #38 & #137, the Brooke County Landfill, American Waste Management Services, PC Renewal, Safety Kleen, Six Recycling, West Virginia Solid Waste Management Board, Waste Management & the WVDEP. 

Hancock County residents were allowed to bring the following materials to Tomlinson Run State Park's Main Parking Lot (located next to the swimming pool) from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. on Friday, April 18 and from 8:00 A.M. to Noon on Saturday, April 19, 2008.

§ household junk and debris        

§ used motor oil/oil filters/antifreeze

§ scrap metals and old appliances (freon removed)

§ electronic items (VCRs, computers, TVs, phones, microwaves, radios, stereos, etc.)       

§ old paints – NO CHEMICALS & PESTICIDES

§ tires (can be on rims)                                                        

§ car (lead acid) batteries

Hancock collected a total of 8.7 tons of electronic material. The next event will be in the fall.

 

Ohio County SWA E-cycling Collection Event, Sunday, August 16, 2008

OHIO COUNTY, WV August 16, 2008

The Ohio County Solid Waste Authority collected over 21.3 tons of e-waste for recycling in an all day event at the City of Wheeling Operations center.. A total of 42,651 pounds ( 21.33 TONS) was collected including 13,142 pounds of TV's, 5,704 pounds of computers, 11,788 pounds of computer monitors, 11,022 pounds of miscellaneous electronic items and 995 pounds of microwave ovens.

 

Harrison County SWA E-cycling Collection Event, Saturday, September 20, 2008

The Harrison County SWA collected a total of 42,116 lbs  or just over 21 tons of electronics for recycling including TVs, computers, monitors, copiers, microwaves and smaller items such as cell phones, chargers, cables, etc.

 

 
Hancock County SWA Fall Cleanup Program, Friday and Saturday, October 10 & 11, 2008 (Including E-Waste)
The Hancock Solid Waste Authority, in cooperation with  the Hancock County Commission, Tomlinson Run State Park Foundation, Boy Scout Troops #38 & #137, the Brooke County Landfill, American Waste Management Services, PC Renewal, Safety Kleen, Six Recycling, West Virginia Solid Waste Management Board, Waste Management & the WV DEP conducted it's annual fall cleanup program collecting 11.92 tons of e-waste for reuse and/or recycling.
 

Putnam County, Saturday November 1, 2008,

9:00 am - 2:00 pm

The Putnam County Solid Waste Authority sponsored a single day e-cycle collection event at the Wave Pool at  Putnam County Park, #1 Valley Park, Hurricane, WV  25526.

Items collected included PCs & peripherals, laptops, hard drives, printers & typewriters, copiers, VCRs, fax machines, answering machines, duplicators, stereos, radios, remote controls, tape players, telephones, TVs, etc.

The authority collected 10.34 tons of obsolete electronics for reuse or recycling.
