The West Virginia Purchasing Division is busy planning its 2025 Agency Purchasing Conference, and we’re excited about what’s in store. There will be a lot of changes, so be sure to read carefully before you register. Please click here for more information about the conference.
West Virginia Purchasing Division to Hose Vendor & Local Governments Outreach Events in September
The West Virginia Purchasing Division is hosting two outreach events this September to support vendors interested in doing business with the state, as well as political subdivisions looking to stretch their budgets through state purchasing resources.
Event Details:
- • Beckley: Thursday, September 18| 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Tamarack Conference Center
- • Martinsburg: Thursday, September 25| 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Hilton Garden Inn
Topics Include:
- • How to market goods and services to state agencies,
- • Specifications and how they impact state contracts,
- • Addressing contract terms and conditions,
- • Understanding bond requirements,
- • And more!
Onsite Support:
Purchasing Division staff will be available to:
- • Answer questions related to the state purchasing process and the State and Federal Surplus Property Programs
- • Walk vendors through the website
- • Assist with the vendor registration process

Office Assistant 3 - Under general supervision of the Buyer Supervisor, performs complex clerical work, organizing and coordinating the purchasing activities within the division, review purchasing requisitions and determine if the required commodity is on contract, or if bids must be solicited. Review and confirm contract items and pricing, verify compliance with specifications. Assist in daily bid openings, review, and scan bids for transparency. Assist buyers with correspondence to agencies and vendors. Perform market research to assist buyer staff in bid response verification. Run various reports including commodity/vendor searches. Knowledge of governmental purchasing procedures and basic clerical practices. Knowledge of personal computers. Experience in office suite software such as Microsoft and Google. Ability to type accurately. Ability to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing. Perform related work as required. This posting closes August 14, 2025.
