As planning and preparation begins for the 2020
Agency Purchasing Conference, the Purchasing Division is pleased to
announce The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, WV, as the location for
this year’s conference. Any individual who procures under the West
Virginia Purchasing Division’s authority (West Virginia Code §5A-3) is eligible
to attend. However, preference will be given to those individuals
designated as a primary or backup procurement officer for their agency.
Additionally, with limited lodging rooms
and meeting space available, registration will be closely
monitored. Please check back at a later date for the
registration and reservation kickoff dates.
Conference Features
This year’s agenda features:

• Six concurrent workshops, for a
total of 11 hours of training possible per attendee over a
three-day period;
-
• The return of high-demand
workshops, including the following: State Ethics and
Open Governmental Meetings Act, Insurance
Requirements, Managing Your Vendor,
Payment Process, Office of Technology Requirements,
Secretary of State Requirements, and a Boards
and Commissions workshop focused on requirements geared
to those agencies;

• Two new workshops: one on what to
do once your agency has awarded an open-ended contract and
needs to place an order (i.e. Contract Release Orders) and another on wvOASIS
tips and tricks;

• A beginner’s track with six workshops perfect for individuals
new to the state purchasing process or those who simply need a
refresher but are not sure what classes to take;

• An advanced track, open to all primary and backup designated
procurement officers. The advanced track will
highlight trends in procurement, legislative updates, and
procurement roundtable discussions;

• A welcome reception along with
group meals and plenty of opportunities for networking;
and
-
• Special recognition of those with stellar performances in the
public purchasing field, including the 2020 “Procurement Officer
of the Year” award, the “Excellence in Specification Writing”
award, and recognition of those who have obtained the basic and
advanced certifications in the last year.
Award Nominations
The Purchasing Division is pleased to continue its tradition of
honoring its agency partners with the "Procurement Officer of
the Year" award, as well as the "Excellence in Specification
Writing" award.
