IMPORTANT: There is no regularly scheduled testing at Division of Personnel Offices in the Capitol Complex.
At our Charleston test center, the Office Support Jobs (Clerical) test is available every Thursday. All other tests are available only on Tuesday and Wednesday. See the times and schedules below. Known schedule changes and closures are shown in RED.

OFFICE SUPPORT JOBS TESTING (CLERICAL) [Clerical Support Titles]

Testing available every Thursday, 6:00 pm (Early arrival recommended.)
The Office Support Test is the ONLY test offered on this day. [Office Support Titles]

No appoint needed. Apply online prior to testing. (No paper needed)
There is a maximum 2 hour testing period.
Applicants should arrive early for instructions.
Seats are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. While there are usually enough seats, we occasionally have an unexpected numbers of applicants at this site. Note: Applicants may arrive as early as 5:30 PM.

The same clerical test is used for these Office Support job titles: Office Assistant 1, 2, 3 (typing and non-typing), Secretary 1 and 2, Administrative Secretary, Data Entry Operator 1 and 2 (Only available in Charleston. Keyboard test only.)

The clerical test may also be used for other periodically announced titles. Please read the job announcement carefully. NOTE: Some special "clerical" type job tests, like Accounting Technician, are not offered on "clerical" testing days. [More about Clerical Titles]

Note: Clerical titles may require both a written test and a typing test. For Office Assistant the typing test is optional. If you pass the written and do not take the typing test you will be eligible only for Office Assistant positions which do not require typing. Note: Both the written test and the typing test must be taken on the same day. Be sure to read the online job announcement very carefully.

GENERAL (NON-CLERICAL) WRITTEN TESTS

(On General test days, tests are offered for more than 50 titles. Read the announcement for test information.)

General Testing is available every Tuesday and Wednesday, 6:00 pm (See changes below.)
Known schedule changes and closures are shown in RED.

No appoint needed. Maximum 3 hours allowed for testing.

On "General written" days, more than 50 different tests are offered. This includes tests for ALL titles, not included in the Office Support jobs testing program described above. The online job announcement will show the name of the required test. Read the announcement carefully.

Testing Accommodations:
The test location is fully accessible. Applicants requiring testing accommodations should call the Division of Personnel at (304) 558-3950 Ext. 57207 to make special testing arrangements.

Correctional Officer
Correctional Officer 1 testing is available at Correctional Facilities and many WorkForce WV Job Service Offices. Please call a Correctional Facility or call your local WorkForce WV office about CO1 testing times. Do not call the Division of Personnel for testing appointments. Refer to the Correctional Officer 1 job announcement for more information.

Important Additional Information About Testing:

You should apply online if possible. Do not send your written test application to our office. If you cannot apply online due to disability or other valid reason call our office for instructions. Applicant who must use a paper application, should take the completed application to the test center. Do not send it to our office. Personal identification is required to be admitted to testing.

It is important that you read any special application instructions in the online job announcement.

Division of Personnel applicant counselors are available to assist you in the application process. Walk-ins are welcome. We are located in the Charleston Capitol Complex, Building 6, Room 420.
