PHYSICAL THERAPIST 2
Nature of Work
Under limited supervision, performs
professional work planning, organizing, supervising, and
assigning work of other physical therapists. Instructs and
reviews the work of assistants and prepares reports on the
progress of clients. Written orders are received from the
Physicians in the form of prescriptions; however, a wide latitude
is given for varying the technical work performed. Performs
related work at required.
Examples of Work
Evaluates clients in order to determine proper treatment.
Instructs staff in treatment programs.
Plans, supervises and participates in the total program of
physical therapy activities; arranges schedules of clients,
subordinates, and volunteer workers.
Supervises and administers medically prescribed treatments to
clients in all branches of physical therapy.
Prepares reports and maintains a record of each client
including description of treatments given and an evaluation
of progress.
Performs related work as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of principles and techniques of physical therapy.
Knowledge of specialized equipment and apparatus used in
professional physical therapy treatments.
Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and the effects
of massage and therapeutic exercise.
Ability to develop techniques and procedures for professional
physical therapy treatment and direct and supervise the
work of others.
Ability to supervise and make tests and examinations including
nerve and muscle tests and to determine needs for various
treatments.
Ability to inspect, apply, adjust, and suggest need for
artificial support.
Ability to maintain records and make reports.
Minimum Qualifications

Training:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or
university; plus a certificate from an approved school of
physical therapy or equivalent military training. Appli
cants must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a
Physical Therapist in West Virginia.
Experience:
Four years of experience in physical therapy, one
of which must have been in a supervisory or administrative
capacity.
Substitution:
One year of graduate training in physical
therapy may be substituted for one year of the non
supervisory experience.
