INSTRUCTIONS FOR SEARCHING DATABASE

Only one word may be entered per field but words can be entered in as many fields as needed to narrow the search results.  Use word variants, i.e., dismiss for dismissal or dismissed.  Most summaries will have a link to the actual decision if it is available in electronic form. 

If wish to add criteria to narrow the results of a search, do not click the "Back to Blank Search Form."  This feature will remove all previously entered information from the form.  Click the "Back" button on your Internet browser, and the previously entered information will still be on the form.

CHANGE:  Default Orders may be searched by entering the word DEF in the Docket Number field. 

The results page cannot be printed from the browser screen, but you can save the file onto your hard drive, changing the "cfm" extension to "htm."  Open the saved file in either Word or WordPerfect to print.

If you locate a case summary but the full text of the Decision is not available at our site (Example:  Decisions issued prior to January 1994), you may call the Secretary of State's Administrative Law Division at (304) 558-6000 to get a copy.  Note:  There is a fee for this service.
