Effective the 1st day of July, 2007, the West Virginia Education and State Employees Grievance Board will be replaced by the West Virginia Public Employees Grievance Board. The new Board and a new process has a new web site where forms and information are now available at www.pegb.wv.gov.
This event represents a new beginning in the grievance process for State, Educational and Higher Education employees of the State. It also builds upon the old in an ongoing effort to improve and refine the grievance procedure. From 1985 through the first half of 2007, the West Virginia Education and State Employees Grievance Board served the employers, the public employees and people of the State of West Virginia. In it’s twenty years of operation the Board established a body of administrative law governing the employment of teachers, service workers, higher education workers and professionals, and state employees. That legacy shall continue beyond the existence of the old Board in the over 6,200 decisions rendered by it’s Administrative Law Judges. As we move into a new era of public employee conflict resolution, these decisions shall remain as a precedent and guide to interpreting the laws governing the employment of public employees. While the passage of the old Board, represents a hopeful improvement in the grievance process, any accomplishment achieved shall be a continuation upon the work done by the dedicated members and employees of the West Virginia Education and State Employees Grievance Board. THE MISSION To provide a fair, consistent and expedient administrative process for resolving employment related disputes between the employers and employees of the State's executive branch, county educational systems and system of higher education.
